List of barcodes to add
[edit]As you can see in the history I added a few barcodes in January 2019, but I don't have more time now to add more. Here are more barcodes to add:
- CP code [1][2]
- Minicode[3][4]
- ISS Supercode[5][6]
- GS1 EAN.UCC barcodes: https://www.gs1.org/standards/barcodes/ean-upc
- 3-DI[7]
- Codablock F[8][9][10]
- Alphacode[11]
- More on http://www.adams1.com/stack.html:
- ArrayTag
- Small Aztec Code (Aztec Code variant)
- Micro PDF417 (PDF417 variant)
- Ultracode

WikiProject Barcode
[edit]Hello.
I started WikiProject Barcode to improve barcode encyclopaedical data. Does anyone want to join?
The Barcode listed is Potatoes
[edit]I scanned it at Walmart being an idiot and it rang up as potatoes. Thought to share. 2600:1008:B09D:5871:0:56:DF71:C701 (talk) 03:20, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
Orientation-based access
[edit]Hi, I'm suggesting the addition of a brief subsection about a proposed barcode security method called "orientation-based access," which I authored. It introduces physical orientation as a user-specific constraint for scanning barcodes. It’s described here. I’ve written the proposed text in a neutral tone (see below). Feedback welcome.
Orientation-Based Access A novel approach to enhancing barcode security involves orientation-based access control, where the correct physical orientation of a barcode is required for it to be scanned or interpreted successfully. This method does not alter the underlying barcode format but adds a physical constraint to its use, improving protection against unauthorized scans in environments such as healthcare, education, and transportation. The concept was patented by IBM in 2024, outlining use cases where only users who know the correct scan angle or order can access the encoded information. The idea introduces a context-aware layer to barcode usage, potentially preventing unintended exposure or misuse in sensitive environments. Reference:

- Wikipedia isn't a place to publicize novel approaches. We should wait until this sees wide adoption and/or receives coverage in independent secondary sources. MrOllie (talk) 17:38, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
